I am an Elementary Teacher with an illustrious career spanning almost three decades. I have a Bachelor of Education degree in Primary/Junior Education from York University, a B. A. degree from University of Toronto, and I have also completed TESOL part 1. In addition, I obtained an Early Childhood Education degree from Sheridan College and have completed courses in IELTS and CELPIP instruction. During my teaching career, I worked as a Reading Specialist, Special Education teacher, teacher-mentor, and a classroom teacher. I am also Empower Reading trained. My journey began in the vibrant landscape of the Peel District School Board, where I grew professionally by undertaking various teaching roles and responsibilities. I began my teaching journey in Kasabonika First Nation in northern Ontario, where I had the privilege of working with Indigenous children and learning about the Indegenous ways from their families. Now, as a retired teacher, I continue to contribute significantly to the realm of education. Employed as a Teacher-Mentor for the Empower Reading program at the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, I support teachers as they implement this dynamic reading intervention program in their classrooms. As the owner of Start Right Learning, I hope to continue contributing to the world of learning and education. In my personal life, I am a proud mother of an adult son and am also a dog-parent. I also enjoy volunteering my time in the community through my non-profit organization, serve on the board of the local Retired Teachers of Ontario and enjoy a variety of hobbies.
